Learning about your heritage and getting a glimpse into your ancestor’s lives is a thrilling prospect. There is so much we can discover from a well-preserved document and a family member’s letter can bring their voice to life.
But there’s just one problem…

Google Translate won’t cut it.

More often than not, Italian immigrants spoke dialect and wrote in a mixture of dialect and standard Italian. If you have family letters or documents that you would like to be able to read and keep, this service offers the transcription of the documents as they are written, a “standard Italian” version if needed, and an English translation with linguistic notes and explanations.

I am a Rhode Island-based translator and language educator. Ancestral translations are one of my favorite services to provide because I love the challenge of fitting the puzzle pieces together and going on a journey with you.

Time of completion varies greatly based on the amount, format, and readability of documents. I always ask to view your documents in order to provide an accurate quote and delivery time.

I am usually booked out for three-four weeks, but I also reserve some time in my schedule for any rush job that might come up. Even if your request is last minute, contact me anyway and I might be able to assist you.

Yes, my rush fees range from +25% to double the price, depending on the urgency, amount of documents, certifications needed, and so on.

No, I work from digital copies (scans or high-resolution photos).
